Expresso 3.1 open source application development framework unveiled

PRESS RELEASE -- Jcorporate Ltd. has unveiled its Expresso 3.1 application development framework. Expresso, a foundation set of reusable, standards-based software components designed to shorten time-to-delivery of Web-based applications. Expresso has 50,000 downloads and a large active listserv community of over 3400 members strong.

Expresso Release 3.1 provides major new feature enhancements resulting in greatly improved developer productivity when creating robust and feature-rich web applications. Release 3.1 primarily focuses on enhanced MVC Controller functionality, performance testing, as well as enhancements to ease the learning curve of getting started with Expresso such as new Examples and documentation.

Expresso Framework was started in '96 and is the first Open Source based Application Development Framework for building distributed, reusable,secure, Web application components. Expresso is the only open source framework augmented by an extensive suite of collaborative applications, including content management, discussion forum, helpdesk, faq, polling, etc. These applications are developed using Expresso and illustrate what the framework can be used to create.

Expresso has been designed to expose the power of shared industry open standard solutions such as those created by Sun Microsystems, IBM, and the Apache Software Foundation. By leveraging open standards such as Java, JSP, Servlet, XML, EJB, and J2EE, Jcorporate empowers businesses to design and implement unique, adaptable, and unrestricted solutions that are independent of platform and application server. Expresso also builds on shared standards technologies such as Log4J, JUnit, Cryptix, Xerces, Xalan and has a Struts integration underway.
