PR: InfoExpress Partners with Rebel.com To Empower Remote Access Security
Aug 15, 2000, 14 :27 UTC (0 Talkback[s]) (361 reads)

"PRESS RELEASE: Mountain View, CA, August 15, 2000 - Responding to a growing need for built-in security solutions to service increasing numbers of corporate remote users, InfoExpress--a provider of secure remote access and personal firewall solutions--today announced an agreement with Rebel.com, a supplier of business networking technology and solutions, to integrate InfoExpress' VPN solution into a newly-announced Rebel.com Internet server appliance."

"Building on an existing relationship, where InfoExpress provided its VPN solution for internal use at Rebel.com, the new relationship calls for Rebel.com to include VTCP/Secure into its NetWinder OfficeServer 2.0 package, to provide its clients' remote users and distributed or branch offices with enterprise-level security features. The VPN software encrypts data sent from a remote computer to the NetWinder OfficeServer over the Internet, ensuring corporate e-mails, file transfers, and other data cannot be read by unauthorized users. This feature allows NetWinder users to securely connect to their company's Local Area Network (LAN) from anywhere in the world via the Internet."

"Under this agreement, each edition of Rebel.com's NetWinder OfficeServer 2.0 will include one VPN server license and three client licenses. This allows companies to quickly provide secure remote access for their remote employees to share corporate resources without the need to adjust network, computer, or application settings.

"The remote VPN service is administered through OfficeServer's easy-to-use common web interface, popular with small business clients. Client software is available on both Windows and Linux platforms. Current users of NetWinder can upgrade to the new RebelRemote software by using NetWinder OfficeServer's automatic software update feature. Additional client licenses can be purchased by contacting Rebel.com, or by visiting http://shop.rebel.com."
