Borland Software Corporation, a leading provider of e-business implementation platforms, announced full support of native Apache Web Server applications in Borland Kylix, the first native rapid application development (RAD) environment, which was also announced today. Borland Kylix, Server Developer Edition, dramatically simplifies and accelerates web server development for the Apache Web Server on the Linux operating system.

"The Apache project encourages the adoption of our open-source software by commercial software vendors in order to give our community the broadest possible choice of tools and add-ons."

Kylix developers will exploit NetCLX, a web application component framework, to deliver their Apache Web Server applications to market faster. Kylix's state-of-the-art optimizing native-code compiler produces the highest performance web server applications.

The NetCLX abstraction of web application programming interface services such as Apache DSO or CGI provides a direct migration path from Windows to Linux for Borland Delphi(TM) web server applications. Applications built for Windows web servers such as Microsoft, Netscape and others are easily ported to Linux and the Apache web server with no application source code changes.
